Frost Mage

Name/character name: Wilia

Class: Mage

Days available to raid: 1-2 days/week. I cannot be online whole day and wait if I get invite to raid, but when you tell me it long enough before I should be able to come.

Previous guilds: Myths

Reason for leaving most recent guild: I'm only active member.

Previous raid experience: only pre-TBC

Why you wish to join Abaciux: I want raid. Mostly I want Kara rep and enchanting recipes.

Background Information: I have equipment good enough to do any heroic dungeon. I have good frost +dmg (1k+ unbuffed) but I have low health & mana. I was never in Kara so I don't know if I need much health, I doubt I'll have problems with mana.

I hope this is all you want to know.

I'm confused, because you say you've got close to 1k frost damage, and the armory shows you at 237 with four gear pieces missing, and a pair of lvl 16 shoes.  Is there any way you can put your full gear set on, or at least write out your full health, mana, spelldamage spellhit and spellcrit?  Would make things a load easier on us, since it seems the majority of your damage is coming from greens with straight frost damage, which really harms your mana and hp.

Now, I have 2 sets:

Pure dps:

5313 hp
5546 mana
1146 frost damage
3.33% hit chance
6.66% crit chance

Some stats:

6343 hp
6791 mana
1050 frost damage
3.65% hit chance
8.74% crit chance

All stats are without any buff. I think even the second set has low hp & mana but I'm frost mage so I don't need so much mana and can use Ice Barrier to absorb some damage. In heroics even the first set is usualy enough as long as tank can hold aggro.

to be viable in a raiding envoirement. you need a good mix of everything. your hit for example. is very low in your set. spell hit is VERY important. your mana is very low in voth sets. you wont be able to keep up for a full boss fight. you may have loads of +dmg, but if you run oom half way you dont do any. for certain encounters health is needed aswell. about 6-7K is a good place to start off with health. I would look at getting atleast 9K mana. and get something like 15% crit.

go to the lvl 70 instances and get a full blue set. also get a set of spellstrike thats made with tailoring (bind of equip).

at the moment, your far from raid viable.

Some of the trash mobs hit for an easy 8k on cloth Smile and unless you're planning to use mana pot after mana pot, yes Nezar is correct your mana is lacking imo.  My destruction warlock has close to 9k mana, and easily manages to run out of mana half way through a fight, though I have lifetap so it doesn't matter as much as it would for a mage Smile

I cant go on this forum explain to you how a mage works. do some research on your class. without hit you have something like 15% chance your spells will be resisted on a raid boss. thats 15% less dmg output.

you need to maximize dmg. downranking your spells is something you NEVER do as a DPS class. this is only viable for healing classes.
some fights take longer then 8-10 min. even with pots evo and gem you wont be able to keep up with it. and you will run oom.

Let say there are player A and player B:
Player A's Frostbolt lvl max hits for 1k and costs 100 mana.
Player B's Frostbolt lvl max hits for 1.2k and costs 100 mana.
Player B's Frostbolt lvl max-2 hits for 1k and costs 80 mana.

Player A has 10k mana.
Player B has 8k mana.

Both can cast 100 Frostbolts in the same time to deal 100k dmg.

But Player B can waste his/her mana pool by highest level Frostbolt to deal "only" 9.6k damage in 80% time.

Okay look Wilia, I tried to be polite about this application, but your gear sucks.  1k spell damage is imba, IF the rest of your gear is balanced.  You should NEVER use greens that boost only one thing, like frost damage, as they don't help you in the long run.  You should be shooting for 202 hit rating as a caster class, which means that you'll hit a raid boss 99% of the time.  As a mage your crit rating should be upwards of 20% if you're geared decently, unbuffed.  By the time you're ready to clear kara and move on, which is what we're looking for in our recruitment, you should have easily 8k hp, and 9k and upwards mana self buffed.  You don't have these things yet, and I don't care if you can run heroics because the rep has been reduced to honored for entrance, you're not geared enough to complete Kara and move on, you'll go OOM or get one shotted by any mob in the instance.

We have great tanks and great dps, we know how to keep our aggro.

Or you lack dps and your tanks suck?
Using mana pots and evo dose not solve the problem. i'm mana based with ~60% mana regen during battle i think and 11k mana and even i have to use pots and mana gems.

What + dmg, to be in kara we expect you to have atleast 600+ not a mere 400. your frost specc and you ht 1.2k, thats way to low. i can hit 1.4k and i'm not forst.
You lack:
Dps;
crit%;
Hit rate;
Mana;
HP;
Gear.
Come back when you have ~8k mana unbuffed(frost), 600 spelldamage, 7k hp unbuffed and 15% crit Atleast.
And when you have a pve specc.
